ABOUT US

Founders Emma, Riley and Scott Campbell have witnessed the devastating impacts of anorexia nervosa first-hand. With Emma’s lived experience at the core of the charity’s foundation, The Black Swan was born in 2024 with the hope that no one should have to battle an eating disorder alone.

As her primary caregivers throughout her journey, Emma’s father Scott and brother Riley understand the complexities of supporting a loved one struggling with an eating disorder. Having spent years navigating the health care system and educating themselves on the illness, they are committed to using this knowledge to support other impacted individuals and their families.

Emma continues to be inspired by the support of her family and is passionate about extending this same level of care and guidance into the community. She offers a deeply insightful understanding of eating disorders and is dedicated to helping others struggling through advocating for the three integral components that underpin her recovery and act as the key pillars that guide the Black Swan – access, awareness and connection.

THE THREE PILLARS

Calm Sea

1

Access

We feel strongly about creating equal accessibility to treatment for an eating disorder.

We aim to allocate our resources directly to those in need of financial assistance to access the help they need to manage their recovery.

2

Awareness

We recognise the integral role that awareness plays in the early intervention of eating disorders.

We strive to enhance awareness by initiating open and destigmatised conversations and educating the community about eating disorders.

3

3

Connection

We understand the feeling of isolation that accompanies an eating disorder.

We endeavour to help individuals and their families feel connected through offering personalised support and guidance to finding professional help.
